Rules and Regulations

Admission & Registration:

The accepted applicant has to complete all the registration formalities within the specified time set by the University. All fees for admission of CSE or ITE have to be paid at the time of registration. Payments are to be made at the designated Bank by filling out prescribed deposit slips available at the departmental office.

Fees Payment Procedure: 50% tuition fees to be paid within two months of the beginning of the semester and 50 % tuition fees to be paid two weeks before beginning of the semester final exams.All payments are to be made in the form of Pay order or Bank Draft. Late fees of Tk. 50/= (fifty) per course are charged if semester fees are not paid on or before the last date of registration.

  • No students will be allowed to take part in examination without clearing dues.
  • Studentship will be cancelled of those who did not pay the tuition and other fees for one year.

Examination Criteria of Courses: Students are evaluated in each course separately, both on the basis of subjective and objective methods. The course/program teacher is the main evaluator of the students in their respective courses. Examinations are conducted during and at the end of the semester. The concerned teacher makes endeavor to evaluate a student in such a way that a proper assessment is ensured.

Maximum Period of study: The maximum period a student can study in the Department for completing the B.Sc. (Eng.) degree is 6 years.

Stipend: Students who will secure CGPA between 3.50 and 4.00 will be awarded a stipend at the end of each semester as per following rates:

Computation of GPA

The performance of a student is evaluated in terns of two indices-(a) the Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) which is the Grade Point Average for the Semester and (b) the (CGPA) which is the Grade Point Average (GPA) for all Semesters cumulated.

The GPA is computed as follows:

GPA = ? (Credit x Grade Points)/Total Credits

A student is required to obtain a minimum of 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) on a 4.00 scale for the award of the B.Sc. (Engg.) degree.

Attendance

If the student attends 80% classes or more he or she will get full marks due to class attendance. No student will be allowed to sit for final Examination if his or her class attendance is less than 50%.

Retaking Examinations

  • The students who would obtain grade C+ and below, would get the opportunity of retaking examinations but not in more than three courses with next batches of students with the payment of 50% course fees.
  • If any student fails in 4 (four) courses (inclusive of Retake and Regular ) he/she will not be allowed to continue in the next semester.
  • Students be allowed to take re-retake examination up to maximum of 4 (four) courses. Student willing to take re-take examination be required to pay 50% of the course fees. For any retake course, one has to pay 50% of the course fee at the first time and 100% at the successive time.
  • The students of final Semester of both undergraduate and graduate courses will be given chance for appearing at the retaking examination by the respective Dept./Institute with 7 to 10 days of the publication of results with the payment of the same amount of examination fees i.e. 50% .

Missed Final and Missed Midterm

The student who failed to appear at the mid-term and final examinations on medical or on any other ground of unavoidable circumstances would be allowed to appear at those examinations within a week or so of holding of the concerned examination(s) on payment of Tk. 500/- for mid-term and Tk. 1000/- for final examinations.

Requirements for Awarding a Degree
A student must fulfill all credit requirements and maintain a minimum of 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average for the award of B.Sc. (Engg.) Degree.

Rules for Awards/Scholarships/Gold medal

The performance of a student in a course on retake shall not be recognized as meritorious accomplishment for the purpose of awards, scholarships and gold medals etc.

Exceptional Circumstances

If any exceptional circumstances arise in respect of any student the issue shall be referred to the academic Council of the University for Final Decision.

Modification of Rules

The DIU reserves the right to change, modify or amend any rules, regulations, fees structure etc, as and when it is necessary.
